Brimscombe Mill and all organisations inside are very much OPEN

Brimscombe Mill Community Is Striving To Stay In It’s Home At Brimscombe Mill

In February 2024 Brimscombe Mill, home to The Long Table, Kids Stuff, Furniture Bank, Bike Drop, and the pioneering Grace Network Team, was told that they had to leave Brimscombe Mill due to a sale of the property to a local business.

It was a shock as we had been trying to engage with our old landlord to purchase the building or extend the lease, but he decided to sell it without giving us a chance to counter. In February we spoke to the new landlord, but he had no interest in letting us stay on site. This meant the social enterprises and 53 jobs were all at risk.

When we broke the news we were awed by the amount of public support we received. The community response has been overwhelming, affirming the impact and importance of our work at Brimscombe Mill.

Amazingly, since then we have been able to start negotiations with the new landlord to look at all possibilities of us staying at Brimscombe Mill. These negotiations are still continuing and both parties are working hard to find a solution. As soon as we have any news on this we will let you know. We are hopeful that we will find a solution, but this is taking time. This is the reason why we have been so quiet on this news these last few months.

Despite there not being a definitive answer to our warehouse conundrum we want to tell our community that we are still very much open. The doors to the Mill and all the businesses on site are very much open and are also planning some amazing summer events. Our glade and river is glorious in this sunshine so do come down and browse the Furniture Bank, Kids Stuff and Bike Drop shops and eat at Long Table. Bring your kids (and adults!) to play in the play area, air hockey, table tennis and pool table.

Unwavering Commitment:

We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support and solidarity. Our values and community have guided us through many challenges before, and we believe that together we can navigate this situation and will emerge even stronger. Thank you for standing with us. Despite this challenge, our resolve is stronger than ever to serve our community.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us through this time, we would not have been able to get through the last few months without it.

Thanks for all!

The Brimscombe Mill, Grace Network, Long Table, Furniture Bank, Kids Stuff and Bike Drop teams.
